: Synopsis of the Four Gospels: Greek - English Edition of the Synopsis Quattuor Evangeliorum (English and Greek Edition) () and a great selection of similar New, Used and Collectible Books available now at great prices/5(). The aim of this new Gospel Synopsis is to enhance the study of the Synoptic Gospels and provide insights into the synoptic problem through a clear presentation of the Greek text. Jenny Read-Heimerdinger and Josep Rius-Camps set out the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke in turn, comparing each line by line with the other two.

The gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke are referred to as the synoptic Gospels because they include many of the same stories, often in a similar sequence and in similar or sometimes identical wording. They stand in contrast to John, whose content is largely term synoptic (Latin: synopticus; Greek: συνοπτικός, romanized: synoptikós) comes via Latin from .   The Gospel of John isn’t one of the synoptic gospels because it was clearly written independently. Over 90% of the Book of John is unique, that is, the book’s material is not found in any of the other three gospels. If the synoptic gospels were written independently, we’d expect a significant portion of those gospels to be unique as well.

Other articles where Synopsis of the Four Gospels is discussed: biblical literature: The two- and four-source hypotheses: Aland, Synopsis Quattuor Evangeliorum (; Synopsis of the Four Gospels, ), which includes the Gospel According to John and, as an appendix, the Gospel of Thomas, as well as ample quotations from noncanonical gospels and Jesus’ sayings .   This book has been around for over 25 years, yet it is considered one of the best synoptics. This book is perfect for the bible student, who wants to gain a grasp on the Greek language in terms of the Gospels. On one side of the page is all four gospels in the Greek, while the other side has the English equivalent.5/5(4).

Rarely do you see all 4 Gospels compared between 2 covers, but here you will find them, all 4, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The reason you rarely see all of them, is that John isn’t a ‘synoptic’ gospel. The book is printed and bound in the good ole USA. When you open the book you will notice on the title page that is says 1st edition, ,/5(51).

This book was recommended to me as an alternative to the "Bible in a year" program, helping you to delve into the gospels in more depth. With pericopes, you only have to double up once or twice to finish in a year.

Jesus Saenz found out firsthand when he picked up a copy of Kurt Aland's beautifully produced. Noted for its scholarship and quality, this classic provides convenient side-by-side comparison of all four Gospels, not just the synoptic accounts.

Throughout the text, Aland highlights references and attributions to Hebrew Scriptures. Features parallel format, with the Greek and English RSV texts on facing pages, plus indices of Gospel parallels and New Testament passages.5/5(1).

E-BOOK EXCERPT. A synopsis is a tool which displays different passages of a text side by side for comparison. This is most commonly done with the four Gospels of the New Testament because of their similar material, but it could reasonably be done with any text that has similar passages, such as the Old Testament historical narratives.
